SEA CONTAINER LIFTING WITHOUT EXTERNAL LIFTING EQUIPMENT

Cargo Handling Group and our own transport company TransPeltola have become increasingly profiled as experts in container transport over the years. In addition to container transport, we offer our customers warehouse logistics services, in container handling and discharging of containers. This often requires use of special equipment. TransPeltola bought its first side loader trailer in 2022. The side loader trailer lifts sea containers with its own cranes and no external lifting equipment is needed. Read our experiences on what kind of use the side loader is suitable for and why it is superior, especially in sparsely populated areas.

SIDE LOADER IS SUITABLE FOR MANY PURPOSES: FACTORY AREAS, CONSTRUCTION SITES, WHEN DELIVERING EMPTY STORAGE CONTAINERS

The first years of operation of the side loader trailer have shown that there is a demand for the service, because container lifting services are not available in all locations. The side loader container trailer’s own hydraulic cranes allow the container to be lifted to the ground, lifted onto another truck or even onto a railway wagon without separate lifting equipment. The side loader is therefore suitable for a wide range of transport tasks and in certain places, container handling would not be possible at all without a side loader trailer.

What kind of transport assignments has TransPeltola’s side loader been on in the past couple of years? Our side loader trailer has been ordered, for example, for factory areas when customer needed containers to be delivered there for storage or containers needed to be moved to another location at the storage area. The side loader has been on many construction sites and in locations where container loading has been done at ground level. Side loaders have delivered numerous empty containers to companies and private individuals and, for example, to farms as storage containers. Our side loader trailer is ADR-approved, which has enabled the transport and lifting of tank containers containing hazardous goods also.

IN SPARSELY POPULATED AREAS, SIDE LOADER IS SUPERIOR

If the side loader service is used, the customer does not need to worry about acquiring separate lifting equipment for the lifting location. Especially in areas far away from bigger cities and in sparsely populated areas, the side loader is absolutely superior. When separate lifting equipment is not available near the lifting location, ordering a crane on site would be expensive. In such cases, transportation with a side loader and lifting on site with the trailer’s own cranes can save significant money. The driver can lift the container independently and does not need any assistance. The lifting itself only takes only some minutes.
